Oppo F17 pro- first impressions.
the new oppo f17 pro is that now oppo has
been hyping up quite a bit. so what's new with the f17 ,pro what's the hype all about, what's in the box of the oppo f17 pro.
so in the box you get a transparent
silicon case, earphones, the usbc cable, the 30 watt fast charger and the good looking oppo f17 pro.i was expecting a beautiful looking smartphone because i've seen the promos and everything and there are two major highlights of the f17 pro, that is the design and the cameras. taking it one by one the oppo f17 pro is obviously a very stylish looking phone especially with the matte glass finish and the pattern and what really stunning is the striking blue color and a slight purple hue around the edges. and it looks really good with the light falling on it.so this is a beautiful looking smartphone but what really impressive about the oppo f17 pro is how compact and lightweight this
is. most of the smart phones that we use recently are about 200 grams but on the other hand, about the oppo f17 pro,it is very lightweight at 164 grams and you can just feel that.because it's also very sleek at just 7.4 millimeters thickness and this is not an overly huge phone so i like that.the display size is 6.4 inches so this is not a massive phone.plus the display here is a super amoled panel with fhd plus resolution and it's the usual 60hz panel and this is a good display it gets fairly bright, it's very vibrant and it has all the amoled features that we all like.
there's also the industry fingerprint scanner which is very very fast and there's also a very fast face unlock through the front camera.and i just like the animation on the punch hole when the face unlock is in action.surrounding up the design is the headphone jack, the single speaker, the usbc port, the usual buttons and the dedicated dual sim with micro sd slot.
highlight number two is the cameras, the
f17 pro brings up four cameras on the
back , 48 megapixel primary camera, 8
megapixel ultra wide angle lens and a couple of mono lenses which are used for getting some cool portrait mode features. the photos from the main camera look pretty good especially when there is a lot of light or when it's daytime.i didn't take a lot of low light shots, but so far things look decent.same is the case with the ultra wide angle lens, it does a good job and take shots pretty good. but what actually makes the cameras interesting are the features it borrows from the more high-end renault 4 pro.there is ai color portrait which captures the person in the frame in color and the rest of the background is black and white, it's very cool and pretty. The photos or shots taken with the ai color portrait looks super cool, the separation is fantastic and you know what i enjoyed this feature on the renault 4 pro and i have like it on the f17 pro.there are also the night flare portrait which is obviously great for taking some really good night portrait shots with lens flare effects in the background,it seems so cool. i tried it out and the results are pretty cool.another cool feature which f17 pro brings is ai clear portrait which uses ai to make sure that there will be no missing details on the face.
so enabled ai clear portrait in the camera settings and took a few comparison shots with the feature turned off and turned on and the difference wasn't massive but yeah there were slightly better details in the photos that had ai clear portrait turned on.now some really cool features are also present on the front.so there are actually dual cameras here a 16 megapixel main camera and a 2 megapixel depth sensor.and the depth sensor is actually useful because there's the ai color portrait on the front as well.and even here it works very well.apart from that the front camera also has ai super night portrait which promises to take better portrait selfies in the night.in my time the results were mixed but in places like a restaurant or other slightly lit places that should work well.so the camera features are actually pretty cool.but what about the rest of the phone.
oppo f17 pro,it comes with the helio p95 chipset 8gb ram with 128gb storage.the helio p95 is not exactly a new chipset or a chipset that can take on the competition. the phone does feel fast and snappy and for gaming pubg mobile defaults to hd and high graphics and the gaming experience was
fairly good or better. in my brief usage as for the software there's coloros 7.2 on board, on
top of android 10 and it has all the features you need including a couple of new features.so there's the new dark vault app which lets you keep
all your personal government ids in one safe place.there's also a quick return bubble which lets you minimize apps and games and switch back to them pretty quickly.as for the pre installed apps there are no a lot.they are all obviously the oppo apps and there is facebook, amazon, netflix and wps office, all of which you can uninstall, so that's good.
when it goes to the battery the f17 pro has a 4000 mah battery with 30 watt super fast charger that should charge the phone pretty quickly.the biggest usps of the oppo f17 pro are its design and its cameras.and in my brief usage of the phone,i think on both those fronts, the phone does pretty well. i mean as the design is very sleek and very lightweight and so there's no doubt that this looks and feels like a premium phone. i like it .on the camera front,it has some very cool features that we have seen in high-end open phones and these features work great as well. it'll be interesting to see the price of the f17 pro because the price to performance ratio is something we don't know.so we can wait for that before making a final judgment.
